ENGLISH Gsus Lopez (Zamora, Spain, 1986) is a writer-director based between London (UK) and Spain, with a passion for celebratory, uplifting, and joyous LGBTQ+ and working-class stories. Since graduating with his BA in Media from the University of the Arts London in 2014, he has been selected as a member of the BFI Network x BAFTA Crew (2018-22), and Berlinale Talents (2015). Gsus has directed award-winning short films, fashion films and music videos, with his crowd-funded short OUT screening at over 50 film festivals worldwide, then premiering online on FOTOGRAMAS (2019) and being included in the FILMIN catalogue. In 2022, he finished writing a feature film script titled HISTORIA DE MADRUGADA (Story at Dawn), a queer drama set in Madrid. This project was selected for the 5th Pitchbox Madrid by Filmmarket Hub and highlighted in an article in Variety published during the 71st Cannes Film Festival in 2018. In 2019, he got a grant to participate in a 5-week long Advanced Script Development Workshop at the EICTV in Cuba. Amongst other projects, he's developing a new feature film titled THE DAM which has been selected for development in Dissident House, B3 Hessen Lab (Biennial of Moving Image in Frankfurt) and ''Islands of Fiction'' – International Screenwriting Residency in the Balearic Islands (2022). |
ESPAÑOL Gsus Lopez (Zamora, España, 1986) es un guionista y director, que vive entre Londres y España, apasionado por las historias que celebran y representan la comunidad LGBTQ+ y a la clase obrera. Desde que se graduó de la Universidad de las Artes de Londres (UAL) con un BA en Media en 2014, ha sido seleccionado como miembro de BFI Network x BAFTA Crew (2018-22) y Berlinale Talents (2015). Gsus ha dirigido cortometrajes, fashion films y videoclips que han ganado múltiples premios, destacando OUT (drama/comedia/LGBTQ+) que la revista FOTOGRAMAS estrenó en abierto en abril 2019 tras su paso por mas de 50 festivales de cine y ser incluido en el catálogo de FILMIN. En 2022 acabó de escribir el guión un largometraje titulado HISTORIA DE MADRUGADA, un drama queer ambientado en Madrid. En 2018, este proyecto fue seleccionado para el 5th Pitchbox Madrid por Filmmarket Hub y destacado en un artículo de Variety publicado durante el 71° Festival de Cine de Cannes. En 2019, y gracias la Beca SGAE también participó en un Taller Avanzado de Desarrollo de Guiones en la EICTV en Cuba. Entre otros proyectos, está desarrollando otro largometraje titulado LA PRESA, seleccionado en los laboratorios Dissident House, B3 Hessen Lab e “Islas de Ficción" – Residencia Internacional de Creación Audiovisual de las Islas Baleares (2022). |
